A Wedding Rooted in Family, History & Home

Mackinac Island, MI

Nina and Ryan’s celebration on Mackinac Island was filled with so much meaning, from Nina wearing her mother’s 1981 wedding sari to honoring the women who shaped her throughout the weekend.

We were so honored to bring the floral design to life for a celebration rooted in family, history, and home. Every detail felt deeply personal, and the flowers were designed to complement the beauty of the island and the story unfolding around them.

Seeing this beautiful weekend featured in Vogue India feels like such a special full circle moment.

A Celebration Rooted in Tradition

For Nina and Ryan, Mackinac Island was more than a beautiful wedding destination. It was a place connected to Nina’s childhood, family memories, and a feeling of home. The Inn at Stonecliffe provided the setting for a weekend of celebrations that brought together family, friends, and traditions from different parts of their lives.

One of the most meaningful elements of the weekend was Nina’s wedding wardrobe, which incorporated saris belonging to the women who raised her. For the Indian ceremony, she wore her mother’s emerald and gold Kanjivaram wedding sari from 1981, honoring generations of family history through something deeply personal.

The celebration brought together South Indian wedding traditions, meaningful heirlooms, and the natural beauty of Northern Michigan, creating a weekend that felt entirely their own.

Thoughtful Florals & Meaningful Details

The floral design was created to complement the story behind the celebration. With family saris and heirloom jewelry bringing color and tradition into the Indian ceremony, the surrounding design embraced softer tones and natural textures that allowed these meaningful details to stand out.

The mandap design featured velvet neutrals, creating a thoughtful contrast against the rich colors of the silk saris. Rather than competing with the traditional attire, the design allowed the textiles, personal details, and ceremony itself to take center stage.

For us, floral design is about more than the flowers themselves. It is about understanding the feeling a couple wants to create and finding ways to bring that vision to life through color, texture, and thoughtful placement. For Nina and Ryan, that meant creating a setting that felt connected to their traditions while remaining true to the beauty of Mackinac Island.

From Indian Traditions to Northern Michigan Charm

One of the special parts of this wedding was how each celebration had its own personality while still feeling connected to the larger story of the weekend.

The Indian ceremony honored Nina’s family history and South Indian traditions, while the Western ceremony embraced warm neutrals, candlelight, sculptural details, and touches of yellow, Nina’s lucky color. The natural surroundings of Mackinac Island provided a beautiful backdrop for both celebrations.

Throughout the weekend, personal details tied everything together, from the family saris and heirloom jewelry to the jasmine flower braid Nina wore for the Indian ceremony. Each element reflected the people, places, and memories that brought the couple to this moment.

The result was a celebration that felt thoughtful and personal without losing sight of the joy of bringing everyone together.

A Celebration That Felt Like Home

Nina and Ryan’s wedding was a beautiful reminder of how meaningful a celebration can be when every detail reflects the people at its center.

From Nina’s mother’s wedding sari to the thoughtful floral design and the beauty of Mackinac Island, the weekend brought together family, history, and home in a way that felt both personal and timeless.

We were honored to be part of a celebration that placed so much importance on the people and traditions that shaped it. Being able to contribute through floral design, and to see the weekend featured in Vogue India, made the experience even more special.

A celebration rooted in family, surrounded by history, and brought to life with flowers on Mackinac Island.
